How far in advance should we book our DJ?
One of the largest determining factors when it comes to booking your DJ is the time of year your event is taking place. Fall and Spring weddings are extremely popular, and we often book weddings more than a year in advance. Likewise, prom season books quickly and holiday parties in December are very popular. It is recommended to chose your DJ and book them for your event as soon as possible.
Will we meet the DJ that will be at our event in advance?
Yes, unlike many of our competitors, who do not allow you to meet your DJ in advance, you will sit down and speak with the actual DJ that will be there on your special night. We feel this is vital to a successful reception. Our goal is to meet your every wish. We learn about your wishes best by speaking with you in person. Companies that don’t let you meet your DJ or see them in action before your wedding do so because they themselves don’t know who your DJ will be. They are a “recruiter” of sorts who assign random DJ’s in your area sometimes as late as the week before your event.
Once we have chosen our song lists and timeline for our reception are we allowed to make changes?
Yes, we can make changes to the order of events for your night even after we arrive. Again, our goal is to meet your every wish. Songs for things like your first dance can be changed even the day of your event. With our equipment and extensive list of digital songs, we can make changes quickly and without interrupting the flow of the evening. Feel secure in knowing that we will do whatever it takes to meet your expectations. Our belief is that this is your special night, not ours.
Will we be able to decide the types of songs that will be played? What if there are certain songs we don’t like?
At your pre-event meeting, which usually occurs two weeks prior to your wedding, we will go over an entire packet that gives you an opportunity to let us know the types of music you like and don’t like. We also discuss any “Do not play” songs, which you can be assured will not be heard at your reception. Some bride and grooms even choose to pick the entire play list for their night, we can do that too.
Do we have to do all of the traditional wedding reception activities, like garter toss, bouquet toss, and formal dances?
Absolutely not. We have couples who choose to do everything you normally see at a traditional reception. We have others that do none. We can’t stress enough that this is your special night and we can do whatever you want.
What influence does our choice of venue or facility have on the mood of our reception?
We at Horizon Entertainment believe that next to your choice in a DJ, your venue has the largest effect on the ambiance and mood of your reception. If you choose to use our additional packages, such as the lighting upgrades, the size, shape, and existing lighting of the venue is crucial. We will make any necessary adjustments to make your facility look amazing.
